What the Google and Twitter Partnership Means To Your HVAC Business

Posted on:

Every few months we hear about tech companies that decide to join forces. This time around Google and Twitter are the new couple, and they’ve decided to partner up! You’re probably thinking, “What does this mean for me?” Well, if your business has an internet and social presence, it means a lot! Why? Because Google is the top dog when it comes to search engines, so any company that partners with them will reap the benefits of the partnership. On the flipside of the coin, Google will benefit from the social perspective because next to Facebook, Twitter is one of, if not the top social platform on the web right now.

The biggest news from this partnership is that Google now has full access to Twitter’s stream. This will help Twitter users tremendously because instead of Google crawling Twitter for relevant tweets, Google can now automatically access the Twitter stream and easily track relevant tweets.

The partnership benefits Twitter because their users’ content is more likely to be indexed by Google, which will result in tweets gaining more exposure. As a result, more businesses will create Twitter accounts to support their online presence.

How does it benefit Google? Twitter is a wealth of viral information. Tweets go viral in a matter of seconds, which is a great venue for breaking news. When two of the top search engine and social companies in the world partner up, good things are bound to happen in the SEO and social media world.

Social and SEO… Magnets That Keeping Attracting Each Other
Social media and Search Engine Optimization go hand-in-hand. While SEO helps your online presence on the back-end, social media assists SEO on the front-end (or visible portion of the Internet). Tweets, Facebook posts, YouTube videos, and blog posts all contribute to SEO, which is why the content posted on social media should always be relevant to your business. Wondering how to go about posting “SEO relevant” information? Not to worry, it’s pretty simple, just follow the steps listed below:

  1. Focus on keywords. When tweeting, posting on Facebook, or your blog, make sure to use keywords in the content. For example, “It’s hot in Dallas this week. Do you need your AC repaired?”
  2. Link to your website and other social sites from blog posts, tweets, and Facebook posts.
  3. Link to your social sites from your website. ACCA member M&M Mechanical displays a good example of this on their site.
  4. Write posts and tweets that are light and fun, but also contain relevant business information.

Social media can really help your Internet presence in a positive manner. It’s actually very similar to print marketing where the more flyers and publications that are out there, the more people will remember your business. Think of it this way, you’re walking down the street with your kids and see a brightly colored ad on a tree for a local ice cream parlor. The following day the kids are watching cartoons and see a commercial for the same ice cream parlor. The next time you bring the kids for ice cream, chances are they’re going to want to visit the place they’ve heard of several times. (Any excuse to talk about my kids or ice cream, I’ll go for!) The point is that exposure and relevancy is key!

Bonus Tip: What’s the “Right” Amount to Post?
This is the million dollar question. You don’t want to over advertise. Too many tweets and Facebook posts could annoy your followers, and lead to them ignoring your advertising, which is something you definitely don’t want to happen! Consistency is key. Post, tweet, blog, etc. on a consistent basis, but don’t go overboard. It’s a delicate balance. Use social media to your advantage. Use relevant keywords in your social posts, and chances are you will see an increase in your business’s online presence.

As you know, the internet is constantly changing, which can make it hard to know what the best practices are when it comes to SEO and social media. One important thing to keep in mind when it comes to Search Engine Optimization and social media is to relax and have fun with it. When it comes to social media posts for your business, they shouldn’t be long and boring, they should be short and easy to read. The last thing followers want is another dry article, so keep it light! Fun posts that include relevant keywords are the key to social and Search Engine Optimization success.
